Let me introduce you to Grace. Grace isn't a specific person with a specific name and specific face. However, she’s a woman, mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend. She is one of us. She’s living—or should I say, surviving—a quite ordinary life. She eats, sleeps, prays, loves, laughs, cries, worries, hopes, dreams, cares, and works… the list could go on. Like many of us, Grace goes about her regular routine. Then one day it happens: she notices that she’s stuck. Stuck in the in between. How did this happen? Well, for starters, Grace is stuck because the idea of actually moving forward means change, and change, as we all know, can be scary. It sometimes feels safer to keep standing still. Why can’t we stay in a safe, stuck place?
Well, if we did that, we would never get to experience the true beauty of what God has to offer us in our lives. Please allow me to tell you how Grace discovered freedom but it didn’t happen overnight. Over the years, Grace unknowingly developed a passive aggressive attitude towards her job. She didn’t do anything about it at first and instead remained in her unsatisfying career and unbalanced lifestyle. She was not living her purpose, and suddenly she realized she had gotten stuck and was unable to move. She couldn’t even breathe properly at times. Grace was left confused and saddened by these feelings because she couldn’t understand what was happening. She had always been strong-willed, capable of making big decisions. People had even gone to Grace seeking advice. So how could it be that she started feeling like this? Grace questioned herself and wondered about what she should do. Well, there are a number of solutions, but most importantly she first had to acknowledge that she had to walk through the in between process. She realized that she would never get to any destination by just staying in one place. With that, she set off on her journey, fearful and nervous—yet hopeful and faithful.
On a more personal level, I’ve been born and raised in Eastern Canada, where I get to experience different seasons. I have to admit that one of my favorites is winter. It’s cold but comes with so much beauty. Snow days are memorable and you can find me at home gathering with my big family in the living room, the fireplace warming us up as we enjoy conversation and traditional homemade meals around the table.
I love to journal, read, and connect with people. My passion is writing and I am blessed to share my work with others. I combine my writing and work to help others find their passions and realize their dreams.
We all experience challenging seasons in our lives when we can allow them to either debilitate us or spur us on to growth. Diana Pintimalli, in her book In Between, eloquently weaves godly wisdom, counsel, and practical tips on the tapestry of her vulnerable healing journey during a difficult season of her life. This is an encouraging, honest, uplifting must-read for every person who finds themselves in an in-between place and would like to harvest good fruit from it.
We often confuse destination with journey. In life, we look to hitting certain destinations as a marker of success when what we really mean is how well we are doing on life’s journey. Consider Diana’s book as a go-to resource for your life’s journey. Her guidance will provide you with all the things you need to make the most of the trip.
